Since this is an election year, I thought I'd start posting answers given by Missouri's elected officials on the National Political Awareness Test.
This week I'll focus on Sarah Lampe (D), Missouri State Representative, District 138.
Budget &Taxes: Ms. Lampe didn't want to scare us, so she simply avoided stating her position 50% of the time. However, we do know that she:
- Wants to "greatly increase" spending on K-12 education
- "Greatly increase" taxes on booze
- Tax the hell out of EVIL CORPORATIONS (thereby increasing taxes on us all)
- Increase the inheritance tax
- Tax internet sales
What she didn't respond to was interesting. Lampe gave no answer on her position on: law enforcement, transportation, welfare, gas, property, sales or automobile taxes.
Surprisingly, she says she favors "slightly decreasing" cigarette taxes and eliminating taxes on income over $75,000.
She's mute on what she would do concerning taxable income under $75,000.
Information was derived from Lampe's answers to the 2004 NPAT.
More on Sarah Lampe throughout the coming week.
Campaign Finance/Government Reform: Lampe supports term limits, as long as we're talking
about the Governor. She doesn't support term limits on state reps or
senators. (Is she looking to a future run at the senate?)
Lampe favors limiting political contributions. She doesn't answer on the issues
of civil unions or gay marriage.

Afterthought:
According to economist Walter E. Williams, we get the following:
-> About 3% of total fed tax income comes from capital gains taxes;
-> About 1% of the fed tax rape comes from the estate tax.
Give-or-take, about 5% of what the Imperial FedGov pillages, comes from the above two sources.
So... why is it soooo damned important to maintain the estate tax, let alone capital gains taxes?
Answer: It gets revenge on "the rich". Yeah, and the alternative minimum tax was ONLY meant to tax "the rich"... another lie.
