Teacher Honored For Going On Foodstamps
Jack Powell is being honored by a teachers union. You see, Powell is so offended by Wal-Mart that he would rather go on the public dole than shop there.
"I don't like what Wal-Mart stands for," Powell said, noting the mega-chain's scanty health insurance for staffers. "Because of all those things they can lower the prices."
He and his partner agreed to go on food stamps for their family rather than shop at Wal-Mart any longer.

America, behold the people you let "educate" you children.

The article says this guys a substitute teacher. If he's not a "perminent sub" under an annual contract, he might be making $50-$75 per day only on those days he is called. And he, and therefore his partner (ya gotta love that turn of a phrase), don't get benefits from the "teaching" gig. In the schools in which I taught, the subs didn't pay union dues because they were paid so little and were, essentially, migrant workers. All that was needed was a high school deploma and maybe a year or two of college to get a county certificate as a sub.

well I don't shop at Wal-Mart either due to there excessive use of eminent domain and I'm not on food stamps because of it. A teacher makes just about the same amount of money as I do and I own my own business. I guess we need to stop food stamp fraud.
