Homeland Stupidity notes that Cal Poly is destroying thousands of books to make room for a Starbucks, and has silenced a librarian for objecting. My question would be why don't they hold a sale every year to clear out older materials, as libraries across the country do? So typical of the way taxpayers' money is treated by government institutions.
