Senator Bond Shafts Missouri
While Senator Claire McCaskill (D) made good on her promise by voting against cloture on the Kennedy/Bush/McCain immigration sham, Senator Bond flipped Missourians the bird by voting for cloture.
Late in the afternoon, Senator Bond (B, for Bozo) tried to convince Sean Hannity's listeners that he had done a wonderful thing. The reasoning went something like this: now Bond gets to take the Senate floor and explain to his partners in crime why this is such a bad bill. Bowled over by his skilled oratory, they will be properly chastised and wonder why the hell they every considered this steaming turd of a bill. (The whole thing was pretty difficult to follow. Bond's explanation was convoluted--in fact, he sounded positively senile). Adding to the confusion was the fact that Hannity thought Bond had voted against closure.
Senator Bond, I'm sure your constituents are letting you know know in no uncertain terms that we much prefer McCaskill's no B.S. approach to the matter. Not that you seem to care.
I'd hope that Missouri Republicans can get over their partisanship long enough to call Senator McCaskill's office and THANK HER. I called...right after I fired off a rather acid critique of Senator Bond's performance to his DC office.

On the 4th let us remember
We claim to be the only Superpower not a third world country. We have from the start of our nation based our pillar and purpose on spreading democracy and the right of the people to decide their destiny. All our wars war was fought for the same. We have fought for suffrage.
I filed as a write-in candidate for Mayor on April 3, 2007. A week later the City of Springfield law department informed Richard Struckhoff, County Clerk that write ins are not allowed under Springfield City Charter. Yet the Charter does not address the issue just as it does not in other city codes or charters because state law requires it in all cities in Missouri - period. To see the case go to www.reedforcouncil.com.
Anyone who wanted to run for school board, city council, or Mayor because they did not like the options should have been allowed to run.
I have filed with Greene County Court asking for a free and open election. And yes, Springfield as the buckle of the Bible Belt, needs to practice what we preach. I have asked the Secretary of State Robin Carnahan and the Attorney General Jay Nixon to help enforce state law that says all elections shall be free and open; and no power, civil or military, shall at any time interfere to prevent the free exercise of the right of suffrage.
So, as the Fourth of July comes around, let’s remember the 151,580 thousand people of Springfield who need to be allowed to decide their future.

All Senator Bond has done is made it easier for this monstrosity to pass.

Isn't Sen. Bond basically saying 'Let's quit wasting our time and move straight to put up or shut up time?' There is no way Sen. Bond will vote for the final bill considering his amendment basically treats this bill like a Mortal Kombat opponent and rips its heart out.
